Benvolgudes i benvolguts,

Us volem presentar la 1ª NEWSLETTER de la Mediterrània. La hem creat per donar veu a dones periodistes silenciades en els seus països. Es troben al Marroc, a Síria, a Líban, a Jordània o a Palestina. Viuen en països en conflicte sense possibilitat de denunciar les violacions als drets de les dones que es produeixen diàriament. Viuen en condicions de persecució o es veuen obligades a exiliar-se.

 Aquesta newsletter neix amb l’objectiu de donar veu a totes aquestes dones. I a fer arribar el seu missatge a través d’Internet a les dues ribes de la Mediterrània.

Amigas, amigos y colegas:
El concluir un año más de las historias compartidas y los caminos andados obliga a detenerse para reflexionar y evaluar el trabajo realizado.
Como Redes de periodistas hemos enfrentado grandes compromisos como la defensa de los derechos de las mujeres en diversos ámbitos, en el continente americano el derecho de las mujeres a decidir sobre su cuerpo, a no vivir violencia, a que sus derechos humanos sean hechos no solo discursos desde las esferas del poder.
En el continente europeo el derecho a no vivir violencia, el derecho a la comunicación.
En África y Asía el derecho a poder opinar sin poner en riesgo la vida, a poder ejercer como profesionales de la comunicación y  a no vivir violencia.

Agenda and recommendation on gender and the informative treatment of the countries in conflict

This document emerged from the meeting-reunion of journalists and communicators from the XIDPIC.CAT, responsible for communication and gender of several NGOs and associations of Catalonia and some journalists and communicators from the Mediterranean Network of Information and Communication Gender of the Mediterranean countries in conflict.

It was organized by the XIDPIC.CAT (dynamic ASSOCIATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF WOMEN JOURNALISTS AND COMMUNICATIONS IN CATALONIA – INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF JOURNALISTS WITH VISION OF GENDER), with the collaboration of the INSTITUTE FOR THE PROMOTION OF PEACE, THE DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS AND PARTICIPATION of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the IEMed (European Institute of the Mediterranean).

And was held on 15 and Sept. 16, 2008 in IEMed, with the aim of making a collective contribution to the Third Meeting of Mediterranean Journalists and communicators with a Gender Vision to celebrate the 23 and Oct. 24, 2008 in Marrakech, Morocco .
2008-October-16th
AGENDA
1.- Spreading of two subjects:
Family laws and the different kinds of violence against women: the domestic ones as well as those that are suffered by the economic conflicts, warlike, social, etc.
2.- Publishing a quarterly Listing of alerts. In the case of the urgent news, the spreading will be immediate.
3.- Collecting reports of life histories of women affected by the conflicts; displaced, refugees, activists for the peace, personal testimonies, etc.Recovering the historical memory of the women in each country. Treating subjects as the repair of damages, difficulties at the return…
4.- Creation of a European Prize to the media or journalist who has published the best article or report on the situation of the woman in the Mediterranean.
5.- Promoting on the 25th of November against the violence of gender in the countries of the Mediterranean region.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1.- Joint publication of articles about the violence against the women, listing of Webs of women journalists, gender agencies and electronic publications.
2.- Pilot formation course: giving a workshop of communication and gender in a country of the Next Orient.
3.- Facilitating the women who can publish reports about subjects forbidden* in their countries, with pseudonym. Give the economic contribution to the associations that they delegate, listing of forbidden subjects*:Sexual abuses in the family and at work, honor killing, feminine Genital Mutilation, sexual gender subjects, violence by men in the family, reports about matrimonial matters and divorces in political sense, cases in the Islamic courts that are not postponed not to give the woman reason and where the women are treated unfairly, reports about the violation of the rights of the women, any critique against the governments, reports about the presidents or kings, of their families, health state… for example in Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Tunis….
4.- Collection of qualitative data of every organization for publishing in the different Webs and media of journalists, NGOs and groups of women.
5.- Editing an Internet magazine. They are not so much of articles written for this magazine but, mostly, of articles of interest already published in our respective media that can be reproduced or linked. Facilitating the translation to different languages. It would be a project of type ‘newsletter’. A progressive project from this simple goal. It will be delegated to a Commission of Contents to guarantee the credibility and the solvency of the sources. Among the present ones it is suggested Kawther Salam as journalist, and Ma. Angeles Roque for her experience as Manageress of the Magazine ‘Quaderns de la Mediterrània’. The associations and NGOs will suggest later their representatives. The Commission of Contents will be periodically renewed.
6.- Create a searcher for the Internet of journalists and communicators of the Mediterranean*. Create a data record with the speciality of each one.
*Work in coordination with Babelnet, which belongs also to the Mediterranean Network of Information and Communication of Gender.
7.- Summarizing the current legislation* on the rights of the women in the different countries, showing the contradictions with their respective constitutions, collecting the existing documentation about the subject and require a team of lawyers for an elaboration of all the material, the countries already working on it are: Jordan, Egypt Syria, Lebanon and Palestine,
8.- Promoting the mutual knowledge through cultural associations, foundations and other international organizations.

La següent presentació tracta sobre les II Jornades de Periodistes i Comunicadores de la Mediterrània, que es van celebrar a Barcelona els dies 5 i 6 d’octubre del 2007. S’hi recullen les diferents participacions i conclusions.

Aquest Powerpoint s’ha presentat durant les III Jornades de la Xarxa de Periodistes i Comunicadores de la Mediterrània,  que s’han dut a terme a Marràqueix els dies 23 i 24 d’octubre del 2008.

L’elaboració d’aquesta tasca ha anat a càrrec de Mony Monell i la seva presentació, a càrrec de Tona Gusi, ambdues periodistes pertanyents a l’esmentada organització.
